The newly established University of Tartu spin-off company Blueray values learning and through the lens of their VR-glasses brings history as live as possible using today`s technology.
The team is made up of former university staff and students, and they have developed a new and exciting virtual reality application which brings the viewer back to Tartu as it was in August 1913, more than a 100 years ago. Travellers can experience the city centre with all the symbols of the city – the Stone Bridge, the barges, the beginning of Raatuse street, where one of Tartu’s most distinguished hotels, the Bellevue, the first permanent cinema in Estonia, cinema “Illusion”, prestigious commercial buildings and the hay market with its sales booths were located.
The tour will take approximately 30 minutes.
The rental point for VR equipment is located near the bridge Kaarsild and the city centre of Tartu can be viewed from four observation points located on both sides of the river Emajõgi.
The era and buildings are introduced in several languages – Estonian, English, German, Russian, Finnish and Latvian.
The University of Tartu and spin-off company Blueray devote themselves to develop virtual reality applications and user experiences in the cultural heritage and tourism sector.
Come and travel in historic Tartu!
